This was an engrossing quick read that was much more of a thriller than I expected. It starts out innocently enough, with two outcast girls bonding over their shared creation, Princess X - Libby does the drawing, and May writes the stories. But when Libby dies under suspicious circumstances, May is unable to find closure. Three years later, she starts to see new drawings of Princess X on street corners, which can only mean one thing - Libby is still alive. The rest of the story follows her increasingly dangerous quest to find her friend.
There is a lot of technical information involving various internet sites in the book that may date the story for future generations of readers, but it did lend it credibility, and I recognized the Seattle locations named in the book from my own visits there. Believable details did a lot to bolster my suspension of disbelief for what was in other respects a pretty fantastic story.
