#6: Diana Wynne Jones, The Merlin Conspiracy (Magids #2) [JRI]
Not as problematic as the first one, but not an improvement either. It was like all the elements of a typical DWJ story got thrown in a blender and mashed into an unappealing goop. The only connections between the two books were the character of Nick and the concept of Magids, and the latter was neither integral to the story nor adequately explained for anyone who hadn't read the previous book.
