There is a great animated TV show on the Disney channel called Gravity Falls. I haven't followed it closely, but it's about a brother and sister who live in an isolated village in the wilderness and investigate supernatural mysteries. Lumberjanes seems to follow a similar setup, except with a summer camp for girls. It is unquestionably the most refreshingly positive feminist story I've read so far (as opposed to Y: The Last Man, which portrays a feminist dystopia). Five charming, diverse young women embark on a series of adventures, to the chagrin of their cabin counselor, who is a source of the most amazing expletives, such as "Holy Mae Jemison!" and "Where the Phillis Wheatley were you?" I also caught shout outs to the X-Men and Indiana Jones during the underground cave sequence. In short, this and Ms. Marvel have me nearly convinced that I need to start haunting my local comic store for individual issues as they are released.

The first two Ms. Marvel trade paperbacks have been released. What storyline are you up to yet? (My copy of Ms. Marvel's second collection will be back at the Jefferson County circulating section later today. Very well done.

I have yet to read Lumberjanes, but I saw some of Gravity Falls. I know about it because one of my best friends and fellow lawyers (David Scott) kept telling me to see it!

If you need individual issues of something, there's always the model of, "I can pick it up for you at Legion with my discount," provided you can pay mack up front or at the back end. :)

I just read the first three parts of Nimona online, thanks to a recommendation from Felicia Day on her recent "Flog" post (similar to Seanan's SF Squeecast). Fun! Would like to read what happens next. :)

Have not read Lumberjanes, but have heard much about it :)

Also!

I have heard of "Gravity Falls." My lawyer friend, David Scott, has a young nephew, and they both adore the show.

And have you seen this: Night of the Crawling Tsums | A Tsum Tsum Short | Disney

And... How about Disney's, "The Descendants," coming to the Disney channel? The descendants of the villians as high school kids... I would like to watch it. :)

The first six minutes of "The Descendants" delighted me. I have played the video several times and felt joy at every viewing. I played it for Tirsah Jade today, and she was soon drawn in and enthralled. (She loved the dancing and the song.) I wasn't swho might have mentioned this before but I ignored, but Kristin wasn't too mad. She's still very hesitant to let her watch the actual movie, though. But I have to see it!

I have been playing the other songs on YouTube tonight, and the show seems to have the good versus evil, free will choice thing going on, nature v nurture, plus lots of (basically) teenage paranormal romance. (And what else are fairy-tale kids with powers?) I happen to have a weakness for paranormal romance of any age...

PS I will give "Teen Titans Go" a chance if you will try "Green Lantern: the Animated Series" (for you or the kids, whichever. I loved it! Seasons 1 and 2 were both at Netflix last year. If they're not still there, BPL has the 2 seasons on DVD at the kids section.
