kareila_booksI don't know why I struggled so much to get started with the second and third books of this trilogy. I was able to breeze through the second one on a second attempt immediately following rereading the first one, but got stuck again when beginning this final book. Maybe it was because events seemed to unfold too rapidly to get the characters from one segment of the story to the next, and then bogged down in exposition? That's my best guess.
Once I made it to Chapter Four, it took off again and I finished it in a few hours. The ending was both surprising and satisfying. I have a feeling Hollywood will ruin it, though, even with Tim Burton at the helm. I can't imagine the story staying true to itself as anything except maybe an animated film. I hope to be proven wrong though!
