#49: John Scalzi, Old Man's War (Old Man's War #1) [JRI]

This was a well written and entertaining space opera, based on the premise that the space defense forces protecting humanity from aggressive aliens have decided to recruit 75 year olds who are waiting for their bodies to give out and rejuvenate them as super soldiers. The protagonist is a little too perfect, and anyone obnoxious or stupid is guaranteed to meet a quick death, but those choices help to keep the story more fun than grim.
