The Last Colony: I kept thinking that this was actually The Lost Colony because the settlement in question was given the name of Roanoke. That's not inauspicious at all. And it actually was lost for a while, on purpose, for strategic reasons. But mostly this story is just an excuse to see John and Jane be brave and clever again in the face of desperate odds.
Zoë's Tale: The exact same story except from the point of view of John and Jane's adopted daughter Zoë. It fleshed out some characters and events that were totally glossed over in the previous book. I think I would have enjoyed the pair more as a single book alternating the two points of view, but it is what it is.
