This is a novelization of a half-produced and abandoned Doctor Who script (Tom Baker era) by Douglas Adams. Gareth Roberts does a spot-on job of capturing DNA's humor and appreciation of the absurd. I did feel that the plot suffered from too much running/flying around, then having a confrontation somewhere, then running/flying somewhere else to have another confrontation, to the point where I couldn't figure out where they were or why about half the time. But that's the sort of thing that, while difficult to deal with in a novel, makes great television, so I can forgive that. I absolutely adored the personality of Skagra's spaceship, which would not have been at all out of place in the HGTTG universe. Having finished this book, I feel compelled to track down Douglas Adams' other work with Doctor Who, just to see if his fully-realized ideas for the show were even better.
