... technology alone isn't enough to change the world — it has to be implemented in an accessible way and adopted by a community of users who feel enough ownership over it to invent new applications far beyond the imagination of its architects.
This 2018 book was a good pairing with Hackers, celebrating the contributions of women who were largely overlooked there and in other popular histories of computing. The timeline was also wider, starting all the way back with Ada Lovelace and Grace Hopper, and ending with the collapse of the dot-com bubble in the late 1990's.
