I nearly made the same mistake I made with Victories Greater Than Death and assumed that because a story was labelled "queer space opera" and I had enjoyed the author's previous works that were not queer space operas, I would also enjoy the queer space opera, but thankfully this one had its content warnings clearly expressed up front to make me aware of just how much Nope I was in for.
I ended up mostly skimming past the first couple of chapters, and there's a lot of good stuff here that I wanted to enjoy more, but there's also a whole lot of eugenics and other Very Bad Things I Do Not Want.
