Some number of years have passed since Grave Importance, and Greta and her friends are living their best lives, when out of nowhere, an orphan is dropped on their doorstep. Not just any orphan, naturally: a child who was turned into a vampire and then immediately and cruelly abandoned.
This novella is maybe half the length of the other Greta Helsing books and centers around the discovery of this orphan, the hunt for the perpetrator, and our heroes' relationship with another well-known archetype of his kind who has not been given much page time until now. The story is clearly intended to serve as prologue for the next and allegedly final Greta Helsing novel, Strange New World, which I intend to read next.
