This story reminded me somewhat of a series I remember reading back in the '90s called The Adept. There's a found family of good guys with various supernatural abilities/knowledge, and a cult of bad guys bent on destroying them (and the rest of the world if they can manage it).
The good guys in this case are more of a motley crew though, and they live in London instead of Scotland. The main character is Dr. Greta Helsing, a normal thirtysomethingish human in a world where vampires and such exist in secret, and she is one of the few physicians who can meet their needs. Her best friend is some vague sort of ex-demon, her nurse practitioner is a practicing witch, and she's on a first name basis with several long-lived creatures who rely on her expertise, as they did her father's before her.
The whole thing ticks along with the energy of a typical Doctor Who episode, with several Monty Python references thrown in for good measure. I'm always a sucker for those.
