I'm still extremely annoyed by the huge number of impossible names to remember (this time I had to resort to keeping notes) and the exhausting lack of chapter breaks, but the character of Celehar is just enjoyable enough to make the effort worthwhile. As someone who takes on the often thankless task of investigating deaths and supernatural occurrences, he must face quite a few horrific situations, and the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger - but his relentless pursuits of justice, and the efforts of his friends and colleagues to soothe his melancholy spirit, balance out the bad with good. I'll be hanging onto those notes to get a head start on decoding the next sequel.
