I finally tracked down the last installment of this light fantasy trilogy aimed at younger readers. For most of the story, Snail and Aspen are following different paths toward the same goal of stopping the Unseelie invasion of Seelie lands. Aspen does what little he can to muster a royal army, while Snail seeks out the aid of the changelings that she encountered in the previous book. In the end, a minor character from the first book turns out to be unexpectedly important, while some major characters barely reappear at all; the ending is all the more satisfying for being so surprising. An epilogue gives us an idea of what Snail and Aspen's happy ever after looks like, while leaving enough questions unanswered to make me think the authors might consider more stories set in the same world.
