Apollo and Meg show up at Camp Jupiter to help defend it from the imminent invasion of two of the three undead emperors plus an undead Roman king whose thing is... turning demigods into zombies? The invaders are determined to regain control of the Sibylline Books, which a harpy with a jumbled but photographic memory is tattooing onto the skin of her Cyclops boyfriend. And that's probably the least strange situation in the series so far.
As Apollo approaches the conclusion of his quest, the action feels more exciting, even though the particulars are no less ludicrous. (The phrase "combat ukelele" appears repeatedly.) Mostly I'm here to see Frank, Hazel, and Reyna again, and Frank gets a well-deserved big hero moment.
Once Camp Jupiter is saved, all that is left for Apollo and Meg to do is to confront Nero in his NYC stronghold and reclaim the Oracle of Delphi from Python. No, the heroes have no idea how to do that either, but I'm sure they'll figure it out.
