kareila: a lady in glasses holding a stack of books (books)

I'm glad I read Over The Woodward Wall first, because it helped me get through the more confusing parts of Middlegame and gave me the strength to power past a particularly gory and terrifying scene near the beginning of the book. I would have stopped reading there, otherwise, because I hadn't been given a chance to care about the protagonists yet at that point.

There are many applicable content warnings, helpfully listed by the author here, but that list does NOT include the one that always gets me, which is child harm. FYI.

This is a book about monsters. Not all of the monsters are bad, but the ones that are bad are truly horrifying.
