This book struck a much different tone than the two that preceded it. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it, especially since the main character didn't seem to be in his right mind for much of the book. As the end nears, everyone seems to be hollowed out by grief, dealing with challenges that cannot be overcome, only endured. Finishing was a slog and I'm glad to be done with it. I have no desire to read any further sequels.
