#3: Christopher Paolini, To Sleep in a Sea of Stars

This wasn’t a terrible book, but it never really grabbed me on either a plot or character level. Short summary: a xenobiologist involuntarily bonds with a unique alien artifact that gradually transforms her into a Space Wizard. In order to end a war between Space Jellyfish and humanity that she accidentally started, she is propelled through an increasingly improbable series of confrontations, punctuated by long boring stretches of FTL travel which give her nothing to do except try to level up her Space Wizard powers. Ultimately it just wasn’t a very interesting or believable story.
