This was a frothy adventure story about San Francisco nerds encountering a secret society devoted to historical books containing hidden puzzles. As an infrequent visitor and fellow nerd, I found the San Francisco bits to be alternately annoying and charming. The setting already feels somewhat dated, having been published in 2012; for example, the narrator describes a "futuristic" prototype e-reader very similar to the one I currently own. Also, I think I have now read the made-up word "Gerritszoon" enough to last me the next two lifetimes.
